Farsi interpreters and translation services.
Los Angeles is home to the largest Iranian-American community in the U.S., centered in West LA / Westwood (often called Tehrangeles). AMS supplies California court-certified Farsi interpreters for depositions, IMEs, and trials, plus qualified Dari (Afghan Farsi) and Tajik interpreters for asylum, immigration, and refugee-related matters.
Farsi (Persian) varieties and dialects we handle
Iranian Farsi (Persian)
The standard of Iran and the largest U.S. Farsi-speaking community. The official California Court Interpreter Program certification is in this variety.
Afghan Dari
The Afghan variety of Persian, with phonological and lexical differences from Iranian Farsi. Important for asylum and humanitarian-parole work involving Afghan clients (including SIV recipients).
Tajik
The Persian variety of Tajikistan, written in Cyrillic script. Distinct from Iranian Farsi in both writing and some vocabulary. Less common in U.S. legal-medical work but available.

Farsi interpreting questions, answered
Does California certify Farsi court interpreters?
Yes. The California Court Interpreter Program certifies Farsi (Iranian Persian) court interpreters. AMS supplies certified Farsi interpreters from the LA office for state court work and qualified federally-experienced interpreters for federal proceedings.
Is Farsi the same as Persian, Dari, and Tajik?
Farsi and Persian are two names for the same language. Dari is the Afghan variety; Tajik is the Tajikistani variety. All three are mutually intelligible to varying degrees but have distinct phonology, lexicon, and (in Tajik's case) writing system. For Afghan or Tajik clients, request the appropriate variety.
How fast can AMS schedule a Farsi interpreter in Los Angeles?
Availability depends on language, location, and timing. Call our office at (800) 919-2029 and we will confirm what is available for your date.
Does AMS translate Farsi-script documents for USCIS and U.S. courts?
Yes. Iranian birth certificates (شناسنامه), marriage certificates, military discharge documents, and academic credentials are routinely translated. Same applies to Afghan and Tajik documents.
Can AMS supply Dari interpreters for Afghan asylum and SIV cases?
Yes. AMS coordinates qualified Dari interpreters for Afghan asylum filings, SIV (Special Immigrant Visa) processing, and humanitarian-parole cases. Advance notice is helpful because the qualified Dari interpreter pool is smaller than Iranian Farsi.
Does AMS supply Farsi medical interpreters?
Yes. AMS supplies Farsi medical interpreters for IMEs, AME and QME panels, hospital encounters, and telehealth.
