Language Specialty

Tagalog interpreters and translation services.

Tagalog (and the broader Filipino language) has a large U.S. speaker base, with concentrations in the LA basin, Bay Area, San Diego, and Las Vegas. The Filipino-American hospitality workforce makes Tagalog one of the most-requested non-Spanish languages in Las Vegas specifically. AMS supplies certified Tagalog interpreters and qualified interpreters in other Philippine languages.

Tagalog varieties and dialects we handle

Tagalog / Filipino

Tagalog is the basis of Filipino, the official standardized national language. For interpretation purposes the names are used interchangeably. Code-switching with English (Taglish) is common in everyday speech and may appear in U.S. depositions and recorded statements.

Cebuano (Visayan)

A distinct Philippine language spoken in the central and southern Philippines (Cebu, Davao, Bohol). Not mutually intelligible with Tagalog. Less common in California-LA but present.

Ilocano

Spoken in northern Luzon and the Ilocano diaspora. Distinct from Tagalog. Available with advance notice.

Other Philippine languages

Hiligaynon, Bikol, Kapampangan, and others can be sourced through the AMS network with advance notice.

Tagalog interpreting questions, answered

Is Tagalog the same as Filipino?

For practical interpreting purposes, yes. Filipino is the official national language of the Philippines, based on Tagalog with vocabulary additions from other Philippine languages. In the U.S., the names are used interchangeably.

Is Cebuano the same as Tagalog?

No. Cebuano (also called Visayan or Bisaya) is a separate language and is not mutually intelligible with Tagalog. For Cebuano-speaking clients, request a Cebuano interpreter specifically.

Does AMS handle Taglish (Tagalog-English code-switching)?

Yes. Tagalog speakers frequently code-switch with English in everyday speech. AMS interpreters handle Taglish in depositions, recorded statements, and medical encounters, rendering the meaning accurately without normalizing the code-switching out of the record.

How fast can AMS schedule a Tagalog interpreter in Las Vegas?

Availability depends on language, location, and timing. Call our office at (800) 919-2029 and we will confirm what is available for your date.

Does AMS translate Filipino documents for USCIS filings?

Yes. Philippine NSO/PSA birth certificates, marriage certificates, and academic transcripts are routinely translated for USCIS, often as part of family-based immigration packets.

Can AMS supply Tagalog medical interpreters for IMEs and hospital settings?

Yes. Tagalog medical interpretation is routine across California and Nevada, including IMEs, AME and QME panels, hospital encounters, and telehealth.
