Armenian interpreters and translation services.

Los Angeles County is home to the largest Armenian-diaspora community outside Armenia, concentrated in Glendale, Burbank, Hollywood, and Pasadena. AMS supplies California court-certified Armenian interpreters in both Eastern and Western Armenian for depositions, IMEs, and trials, with medical-interpreter and translation coverage from the LA office.

Armenian varieties and dialects we handle

Eastern Armenian

The standard of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian diaspora from the Soviet-era and post-Soviet emigrations (largest in the LA Armenian community). Uses the Armenian alphabet with the modern (post-1924) orthographic conventions.

Western Armenian

The variety of the historic Armenian communities from the Ottoman Empire (Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Egypt, Iran). Used in much of the older Armenian-American population and in many religious and cultural contexts. Phonologically and lexically distinct from Eastern.

Both varieties certified separately

California's Court Interpreter Program certifies Eastern Armenian and Western Armenian as separate certifications. AMS holds certified linguists in both.

Armenian interpreting questions, answered

Does California certify Armenian court interpreters?

Yes. The California Court Interpreter Program certifies Armenian (Eastern) and Armenian (Western) as separate language certifications. AMS supplies certified interpreters in both varieties.

What is the difference between Eastern and Western Armenian?

Eastern Armenian is the standard of the Republic of Armenia and the post-Soviet diaspora. Western Armenian is the standard of the historic communities from the Ottoman Empire (Lebanon, Syria, Iran, etc.). They differ in pronunciation, some grammar, and a substantial portion of everyday vocabulary. For Armenian-language work, confirm which variety the client uses; AMS handles both.

How fast can AMS schedule an Armenian interpreter in Los Angeles?

Availability depends on language, location, and timing. Call our office at (800) 919-2029 and we will confirm what is available for your date. Our LA-headquartered Armenian network is the largest in the AMS practice after Spanish, Mandarin, and Korean.

Does AMS translate Armenian documents for USCIS filings?

Yes. Armenian birth certificates, marriage certificates, and other civil registration documents are routinely translated for USCIS filings with USCIS-acceptable certification.

Can AMS supply Armenian medical interpreters for IMEs and hospital settings?

Yes. AMS supplies Armenian medical interpreters for IMEs, AME and QME panels, psychological evaluations, and hospital encounters throughout the LA basin.

Are Armenian interpreters available for federal court matters?

Yes. Armenian federal court interpretation uses professionally-qualified interpreters (federal FCICE does not cover Armenian). AMS supplies federally-experienced Armenian interpreters for U.S. District Court Central District of California (Los Angeles) and federal arbitration.
