Hebrew interpreters and translation services.
Hebrew is requested across California, particularly in the LA basin (Pico-Robertson, Beverlywood, the Valley) and the Bay Area. AMS supplies California court-certified Hebrew interpreters for depositions, IMEs, and trials, plus qualified Hebrew translators for civil registration documents from Israel and religious/ceremonial documents.
Hebrew varieties and dialects we handle
Modern Israeli Hebrew (Ivrit)
The standard variety of Israel, used in virtually all U.S. legal and medical Hebrew-language work.
Religious / Biblical Hebrew
A different register used in religious contexts (Torah, Talmud, religious certificates). Distinct from modern Hebrew. AMS handles religious-document translation with appropriately-trained linguists.
Yiddish (related but distinct)
Yiddish is a separate language, not a variety of Hebrew. For Yiddish-speaking clients, request Yiddish interpretation separately.

Hebrew interpreting questions, answered
Does California certify Hebrew court interpreters?
The California Court Interpreter Program registers Hebrew interpreters but does not maintain a separate Hebrew certification as of recent program lists. AMS supplies court-registered or specially-qualified Hebrew interpreters.
Is Hebrew the same as Yiddish?
No. They are separate languages from different language families. Hebrew is Semitic; Yiddish is Germanic with Hebrew vocabulary borrowings. For Yiddish-speaking clients (often older Orthodox communities), request Yiddish interpretation specifically.
How fast can AMS schedule a Hebrew interpreter?
Availability depends on language, location, and timing. Call our office at (800) 919-2029 and we will confirm what is available for your date. The Hebrew interpreter pool is smaller in Las Vegas; advance notice helps.
Does AMS translate Israeli birth certificates and Hebrew documents for USCIS?
Yes. Israeli birth certificates, marriage certificates (including religious ketubot), divorce documents, and academic credentials are routinely translated for USCIS filings.
Can AMS translate ketubot, get documents, and other Jewish religious documents?
Yes. AMS handles religious-document translation including ketubot (marriage contracts), gittin (divorce documents), and other religious-context Hebrew or Aramaic documents.
